Our story so far...
Death By Fudge began in October 2020, emerging from lockdown at a time when people were craving comfort, quality and indulgent desserts done properly. What started as a small side project quickly gained momentum, driven by bold flavours, generous portions and an unapologetically rich approach to baking.
As demand grew, other businesses began stocking Death By Fudge products and seasonal launches, including the first Christmas Selection Box, helped establish a loyal following. Local markets and events followed, pushing the business beyond its original home kitchen and into its next phase of growth.
In 2021, Death By Fudge opened its first retail shop, marking the transition from a growing idea into an established dessert business. Continued demand led to a move closer to home in Rossington in 2022, where the business now operates from its current base.
Today, Death By Fudge produces an ever evolving menu of cheesecakes, tray bakes and cookie pies, alongside a strong presence at pop ups and events across the region. The focus remains simple, creating desserts that are indulgent, visually striking and worth looking forward to.
2020
Death By Fudge was created in October 2020, just as we were coming out of lockdown. What started as a small side project, with the hope of earning an extra £20 or £30 a weekend, quickly became something much bigger than we ever imagined. Fudge-making became our escape from a difficult year and a way to bring a little joy to people when they needed it most.
2021
It wasn’t long before other businesses began asking to stock our fudge, and with the help of Christmas and our very first Christmas Selection Box, our audience grew rapidly. We hosted a few market stalls around Doncaster and quickly realised we had outgrown our tiny kitchen at home.
In July 2021, while dropping off samples to a potential stockist in Epworth, we spotted a vacant shop on the corner of the High Street. Opening a shop had never been part of the plan, but the opportunity felt too good to walk away from. A leap of faith later, Death By Fudge had its very first storefront.
2022
We loved every moment of shop life and in March 2022, Scott made the huge decision to leave his full-time job of 14 years to join me in the business full time.
Not long after, we discovered a spot in Rossington near Doncaster, which also happens to be where we live. We instantly fell in love with the idea of having a shop closer to home. In August 2022, we closed our Epworth store and reopened just three weeks later in Rossington. This also marked another milestone, welcoming our first member of staff and continuing to attend two to three events every week with our pop-up stall.
2023
With our Rossington shop established, 2023 became all about growth and consistency. We focused on expanding our product range, refining our best-sellers and strengthening relationships with stockists and event organisers. Our pop-up stall became a regular feature at local events and markets, and Death By Fudge continued to grow its loyal customer base both locally and further afield.
2024
In 2024, the business felt truly embedded in the local community. From collaborations and seasonal launches to new events and returning customers who felt more like friends, this year was about creativity and connection. We continued to push ourselves, try new ideas and build a brand that people recognised, trusted and genuinely loved.
2025
In 2025, we took another exciting step forward. We moved Death By Fudge into a brand new venue, giving us more space to grow, create and welcome even more of you through the doors.
At the same time, we opened our partner brand, SteakBite, in our original Rossington shop. Seeing a new idea come to life in a space that means so much to us has been incredibly special and marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our family business.
